Deductions & credits
Yes, you can deduct HSA contributions you made directly for 2017. Keep in mind, TurboTax automatically pulls the contributions reported on your W2 (Box 12 Code W ) so do not duplicate those. You will only need to enter any HSA contributions that you made directly that were not withheld from your wages.
Please follow these instructions to enter the HSA contributions you made directly:
- Sign into your account and click "Take Me To My Return"
- Click "Federal" from the left side-bar
- Click the "Deductions & Credits" Tab near the top
- Scroll down until you reach "Medical" and choose "Show More"
- Click "Start" next to HSA MSA Contributions
- From here TurboTax will walk you through some questions and will give you the opportunity to input the amount of your HSA contributions
Please comment below if you have additional questions regarding this issue so that I can assist you further.
