You may be able to deduct work-related moving expenses.
To enter your moving expenses in TurboTax:
- Open (continue) your return in TurboTax Online.
- Click My Account (top right of your screen).
- Select Tools.
- In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
- In the search bar, type 3903.
- In the results box, highlight 3903 then click GO.
- You'll land on the Work-Related Moving Expenses page, which asks Did you have any work-related moving expenses in 2016? Click Yes.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to enter your work-related moving expenses.
Note: If using the TurboTax CD/Download software, you'll use the Find function (instead of "My Account") to search for the topic.
Option 2
Here is how to report moving expenses:
- Go to Federal Taxes
- Click on Deductions and Credits
- Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
- Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits
- On Moving Expenses, click on the start or update button
