Can I deduct my Washington medical license and my newly acquired (2017) Florida medical license as job related expenses, even though I don't begin new job until 1/15/18?
I have had medical licenses (ARNP, RN) in Washington state for many years. I moved to Florida in 2017. Florida requires practitioners to have Florida licenses. I applied for and received Florida ARNP and RN licenses in 2017.
My position in Florida does not begin until mid January 2018.
I did not have to pass any board exams to get the Florida licenses because I have the Washington licenses.
Can I deduct licenses from both states as job related expenses when I itemize deductions for 2017?
