Deductions & credits
I am very disappointed in this answer. I am a first-time TurboTax user after several years using ProSeries (another Intuit product). I expected that TurboTax would fully support all state modules. I retired effective June 30, 2017 so 100% of my compensation was earned prior to July 1, the date the Illinois tax increase became effective. We also had significant other income prior to July 1, 2017. Bottom line, 100% of our Illinois income should be taxed at the pre-July 1 rate of 3.75%. There is a significant difference in tax by allowing the rate to be averaged, so yes it really makes a difference. Without Schedule SA there is no way we will be filing Illinois via TurboTax as we would be making a significant and unnecessary voluntary tax contribution to the state. I cannot be the only person in this situation. I am surprised by TurboTax's business decision not to update the software to include this form.
