Deductions & credits

TurboTax automatically chooses the federal deduction that gives you the lowest taxes, but you can override this selection at any time.

To switch to the standard deduction:

1. Log into your account and continue (if not already there).
2. In the Search box (top right-hand corner), type “standard deduction and exemptions”.
3. Click on the Magnifying Glass icon.
4. Click on “Jump to standard deduction and exemptions” link high-lighted in Blue.
