Is line 1 of the Illinois 1040 more than $500,000 if filing a joint return or over $250,000 for any other filing status? If yes, then you don't get the credit. if that's not your situation, then you answer 1 or more questions for the Illinois Form ICR incorrectly
Note: For tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2017, the Illinois Property Tax Credit is not allowed if the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income for the taxable year exceeds $500,000 for returns with a federal filing status of married filing jointly, or $250,000 for all other returns.
