Yes, if you have the software download, you can enter this information on the form(s) itself. Here is a step by step method of doing this.
- Go to the forms mode in your return
- If there are no Forms 1116, select open form.
- Type in 1116 in the search
- When you see Form 1116, select Form 1116 in the drop down
- Now there should be a form 1116 that will appear in the right-pane of your program.
- Now click on an empty box (not the shaded area) in Column A that is on the Gross income line. This will produce a magnifying glass,
- Click in that box under Column A this will produce a Foreign Income Tax worksheet.
- When this appears, first check the passive category income box.
- Now go down to line 1G and type in from 1099's, then Go to Columns A, B, C and enter three countries in this form and report the gross income from each country.
- Then go to part 11 and enter the foreign taxes paid for each of the countries.
- If you have carryover amounts from past years you will enter those at the bottom of the form. Close this form
- Now repeat step 2 to generate another Form 1116. Once the form appears in the search you will want to go to the bottom to create a new copy. You can call it Form 1116 (Copy2) or just copy 2. Then select open form
- Once the blank 1116 is shown, repeat steps 6-11.
- Repeat this process until all ten countries are reported and segregated in the form 1116. You should have 4 forms reporting all ten countries.
Remember, if you do this, every time you add a form, You need to give a unique name such as copy 1, Copy 2 and so on. Let us know if this is successful.
