Deductions & credits
It depends. The reason TurboTax (TT) thinks this is an Installment Sale (Form 6252) is that there may have been entry or a checkmark that triggered the form 6252 into your return. Here is the best way to resolve this.
Delete the Form (Desktop/Online):
- Go to Tax Tools on the left menu, then select Tools.
- Click on Delete a form.
- Look for Form 6252 (Installment Sale Income). If it’s there, delete it.
- If you are using desktop, go to the forms mode, select the form in the left-pane of your screen. Once selected and when it appears in the right pane, delete the form at the bottom of the page.
- Log out of your return and then back in to save the changes.
Now reenter your information.
- Go to wages and income
- less common income
- Sale of Home (gain or loss)
- There is an entry below that is titled installment sale. Avoid that.
