I keep reading and just unsure of our exact situation so please assist.
During 2024 we separated.
Neither of us are claiming the spousal amount.
We do not have an official court order so spousal support is not being included on either of our taxes.
We have 2 children.
I claimed a dependent on my return using our eldest details.
Can my ex also claim a dependent on his return using our other child's details?
Further to this... how does it work for the Canadian Child Benefit
I will be the one that it goes to, and I know that amounts are based on your tax return, but do I need to do anything extra, such as an application, for our updated situation?
