Deductions & credits

Once you enter your W-2G, you will be prompted to enter your gambling losses. Losses can be deducted up to the amount you reported winning, but only if you itemize. For more information, click here. 

Here's where you enter Form W-2G (Certain Gambling Winnings) in TurboTax:

1. Open or continue your return.
2. Locate the W-2G section:
   • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to W-2G.
   • TurboTax Desktop: Search for W2G (don't include any hyphens) and select the Jump to link.
