Deductions & credits

I take it that none of the following apply to you.

However, if any of the following apply, you must use Form 7206.

• You had more than one source of income subject to self-employment tax.

• You file Form 2555.

• You are using amounts paid for qualified long-term care insurance to figure the deduction.

I have noticed that TurboTax (CD/download version, at least) generates a 7206 all the time, although I frequently have to force it by going into Forms mode, doing Open Form on the left, and entering 7206.

For this reason, I don't feel that the 7206 in this case (where I open it manually) is intended to be filed, nor is form complete.

In other situations, TurboTax creates forms visible in Forms mode that it has no intention of e-filing, just to use as worksheets.

If the SEHID is correct on Schedule I, that is the important thing. When you get close to the end, tell TurboTax to put into PDF only the forms that are required to be filed, and see if the 7206 is in the document set. I would not be surprised if it were not.
