Unable to choose MN standard deduction rather than itemized deduction
I used itemized deductions instead of standard for my Federal information but want to use Minnesota's standard deduction for state filing. The combination of the MN standard deduction (even though "limited" in my case) plus the calculated deduction for chartitable contributions is greater than the itemized deductions. Form M1SA is generated for itemized deductions and I've tried to delete it but it keeps repopulating. I want to keep schedule M1M to account for other income subtractions but right now it doesn't include the charitable contributions because they are noted on my M1SA. In the end I want to eliminate the M1SA form and keep the M1M form with the addition of the charitable distributions. Turbotax keeps forcing me into the itemized standard deduction which results in a higher MN tax for me. How can I resolve this issue?
