Do I continue file the 8843 file? Or different? I just passed the substantial presence test and became tax resident. However, I had 0 income since I have been at the US.
I came to the US as a high school student. I graduated and then study at the university at different state. During the whole time, I had not get chances to take jobs either due to visa restriction or simply rejected from campus jobs. Even now, I still don't have job after 2 years in college and still file the 8843 form for tax exempt. However, this year I passed the Substantial Presence Test and Sprintax doesn't file for tax resident.
My question is like above, do I just file the 8843 like last year and mail it. Or do I have to file different forms since I am now an alien resident for tax purpose?
