American Opportunity Tax Credit Eligibility
I have 72 credits at a community college, then after attending half-time for four years I transfered to another university for a year where I got 99 credits in total, attending for half-time as well. I recieved tax forms from both institution for 2024. I have not yet finished my bachelor's degree, but have attended universities for more than four years, each at half-time. For the American Opportunity Credit: Do I still qualify for the American Opportunity Tax Credit even though I have more than 120 credit hours combined from both universities? Or do credit hours only apply on a institution-to-institution basis? That is, I have not completed four years or have four years of equivalent credit at either institution in order to qualify?
