Deductions & credits

I did refile by hand, incorporating the original, first amended and second amended returns as requested by the IRS and got a notification that everything is fine, and so no changes were made.

EVERYTHING IS NOT FINE!!

I didn't get the $3600 back in taxes assessed for an excess Roth IRA contribution, so despite what was stated, I can only expect the IRS is going to want another $3600 penalty for the "excess contribution" that wasn't (it was originally mischaracterized as an excess Roth IRA contribution due to poor TurboTax Premier programming guidance, rather than as a  standard IRA to Roth IRA conversion) again in 2024.

As a result, I have not yet filed my 2024 return and for sure haven't bought TurboTax Premier for 2024 yet, and won't until I am sure it has VERY CLEAR DIRECTIONS for how to handle STANDARD to ROTH IRA CONVERSIONS. There have to be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of us doing this each year.  SO INTUIT, DOES THE 2024 TAX YEARF VERSION OF TURBOTAX NOW HAVE CLEAR GUIDANCE ON FILING THESE CONVERSIONS PROPERLY?

Now I even have my congressman getting involved because TurboTax Premier for Tax Year 2023's guidance was faulty, for a second time in three tax years. The first error was allowing me to deduct more in charitable giving than the IRS allowed in that earlier tax year, requiring me to carryover part of the deduction into the next tax year... inconvenient, but not resulting in more taxes or any penalties ultimately being paid by me, unlike the current issue.
