Reporting a donation to a donor advised fund
I am entering a donation of appreciated stock to a DAF. The tax deduction is supposed to be limited to 30% of AGI. However, entering this into Turbotax, there are only 2 choices: a 50% charity, or a non-50% charity. When I choose "non-50%", the amounts go into the 20% limit section of the Charitable Deduction Limits Worksheet, not the 30% section, and I can not take a deduction for this entire donation this year. Some needs to carry over to next year.
Searching this community, I see that this question has been asked before, without a solution. One answer was that this is a problem with the software that Turbotax is aware of and working on fixing. The previous posts were from 2021!!! Why, after 4 years, has this not been fixed??
It is not obvious how to enter this data into the 30% section. When is Turbotax going to fix this?
