There was no "glitch" in the system last year relating to excess HSA contributions. The issues are normally caused by taxpayers not answering the literal questions asked - although, to be fair, for taxpayers who don't understand the technicalities of how HSAs work, it is easy for them to get in a rush and mis-answer questions.

 

"Did NOT separately enter ANY other figure then the imported W-2 correct figure of $7750" - But did you answer the questions about HDHP coverage? If you had contributions of 7,750 and had an excess of the same amount reported, the most likely cause is that you did not tell TurboTax that you had Family HDHP coverage all year. 

 

If you had had a carryover from the previous year, the excess amount would have been slightly lower in the current year, for reasons, I won't detail here.

 

I commend you for going to the Community to research HSA questions, and I invite you to ask your own questions if the research doesn't make your issue clear.
