How to fix error created by TurboTax Review error report?
I am working on TurboTax 2020 Home & Business Desktop for Mac. After completing my Federal return, I attempted to, but when selecting to download the Calif. State product. One person reported being able to download their State software by: Quitting TT, opening, then completing the TT Review process. They then were able to D’load their state S’ware.
I entered Review in my TT2020 program. It showed one error. “Check This Entry Form 4952 Worksheet: Line 3-a must be entered.”
Strangely, the correct amount (44,585) was already present on line 3 of the FORM 4952, but I followed TT direction and put that 44,585 amount in the single box in this Review/error correction process. It reported all was great and correct.
But when I printed the IRS version to be mailed in, Form 4952 now showed:
Line 1 44,585 (this line is supposed to be empty!)
Line 2 44,585 Same amount it had before the TT ‘fix’
Line 3 89,170 This should be 44,585
I have read never to make corrections or additions in the TT ‘FORMS Mode’.
1)But I cannot find where to go in the Step-by-Step TT software to try to correct this problem.
2)I had printed a copy to keep for my self before making the TT required line 3-a entry. That form 4952 was correct, showing:
Line 1 blank (this line is supposed to be empty!)
Line 2 44,585 Same amount it had before the TT ‘fix’
Line 3 44585 44,585 is the correct line 3 value
3)Is there another way to get a download of Calif. State 2020 TT? I am still getting the same failure message trying to D’Load the Calif. State product: “Hmmn… it looks like we hit a snag. Please try again or check back in a bit.”
No go several tries in a row. An hour later, still no go and with multiple re-tries in a row.
A)I could use the path to find the path to the Step-by-Step location to make corrections.
B)What did I do wrong entering the 44,585 amount, which is the amount on line 7 of my 2019 Form 4952, to the TT review (which said it was going to a line 3-a on the 4952 W’sheet?
C)How can I download my Calif. State TT product?
Thanks in advance for any help.
*A bonus question… Anyone ever hear of someone getting a federal refund filing 6 months after the 3 year time limit? ;o). Everything I read says a definite, no, that a past due refund is history.
