I have three nieces under my guardianship. Both of their parents don't have custody of them. Is there a process or a way that I can prevent them from using my nieces on their taxes next year? They claimed them in the past year when they had custody but have since lost that custody and I don't want them to file with them again this coming year.
Is there a place I can send the legal custody documents to or a form I can fill out that will prove I have guardianship before the tax season starts next year?
