not taxable - it reduces the cost basis of your home..... i.e. had the local municipality resolved this before your purchased, you would have paid slightly less for the home because the land parcel was slightly smaller. you sold a piece of land for exactly what it was worth, you could report it on schedule D, but the cost basis is exactly the same as what you received, so the net effect is zero.
