Deductions & credits

I found the forms really confusing to find the correct number for ACA premiums. The 1095 doesn't show what I paid, it shows the monthly premium costs of the plan and the amount of ACA credit each month. (Example on 1095-A = column A. monthly enrollment premiums $2000, C. Monthly advance $1500, person would be paying $500 as their part of the plan.) Mine is not exact though, a few dollars difference each month. I assume that's from rounding. Anyway, I paid $11,412 directly, I was due another $212 in ACA credit for the year, so total I paid was out was $11,200. The amount put into my state taxes was $11,164, and I don't know why it's different.

Problems = (1) TT did not direct me review the state tax itemized deductions and I didn't know where that number came from. I incorrectly assumed it was using the standard deduction as this is my first year in this state and in my prior state if you didn't itemize federal it wouldn't do you any good to itemize state. 2) I spent more than just premiums, I had a lot of co-pays in 2023, and now I need to file an amended return it if I want to get a larger refund.

This is NOT something TT should just transfer without checking. Especially when you've used the standard on federal (because the amt of medical you pay makes no difference in that scenario) but it's using what it transfers over into State and didn't bother to asked me if it looked correct or I had additional expenses.
