We installed 2 EV charging stations in 2023. We entered the full amount for both into form 8911 and do not appear to get the full credit for 1 (30% up to $1000) or any credit for the second. The full cost of the 1st one is $2454 and the full cost of the 2nd is $1233. Whether we enter one or both, the full credit that is calculated is $348. It seems that the credit for purchasing an EV ($7500) is negatively impacting the credit for the charging station in the way it is calculated. Is this correct that you can't get the full credit for a charging station if you are also getting a credit for the purchase of the car in the same year?
