Deductions & credits

Generally, no.  However, if you attended a foreign educational institution institution via an exchange with your US school or at a school that participates in the US Department of Education's Federal Student Aid (FSA) program, you may be eligible for an education tax credit such as the American Opportunity Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit.  This credit would be based on your eligible tuition and course expenses, but will not include travel and living expenses.  Those are considered personal in nature.
