How to file mold remediation for medical issues
I have a child that has had on going health issues. A Dr did labs and confirmed mold exposure was contributing to health issues. The Dr told us to have an Indoor Environmental Professional inspect our home for mold. We paid an independent environmental consulting company to inspect our home and identify mold issues and make recommendations on how to properly remediate. We were advised by the Dr that based on the report by the environmental consulting company that our home was causing health issues for our child and we would need to begin remediation. We gave the remediation recommendations to a remediation company and had remediation work done to remove and clean mold infected areas. We also had to remove carpet and remove HVAC ductwork at recommendation of the environmental consulting company for proper remediation. We had to replace flooring and HVAC system as part of the remediation process.
Is it possible to claim mold remediation on taxes since we have a Dr confirming with labs and recommending that we have our home remediated?
Can the expense of the Independent Environmental Consulting company that inspected (as recommended by the Dr) and found the mold issues be deducted under medical expenses?
Can the cleaning expense of the mold remediation company be deducted under medical expenses?
Can the expense of replacing flooring and HVAC because it was necessary for proper remediation be deducted under medical expenses?
