I thought I read that I could donate to public schools, but cannot find anything in IRS publications now. These are items originally requested from various teachers to assist in their classrooms on DonorsChoose.org and their projects expired without full funding. Therefore, I mailed books for class library, basic supplies such as composition notebooks, pens, etc.) to a public elementary school in a few places in the US. Can I deduct these expenses?
