The general rule is that you are taxed in the state where you live and also in the states where you work.
By any chance was your domicile in Utah prior to last year? Where were you living prior to 2023?
I ask to try to establish if California was your domicile in the start of 2023.
Also, you "retired" and moved to Utah. Are you getting Social Security? This would/might taxable in Utah.
