@perklabs - okay, now I think I know what you are referring to.  There is a form 1099-K that payment platorms (VENMO, Cashapp, etc) will be providing for transactions exceeding $600 for the year- but that is only supposed to be for good and services provided - NOT for people sharing expenses. 

 

you may want to read through this IRS link - and specifically what occurs if you receive a 1099-K incorrectly (and your situation would be 'incorrect;)
