Deductions & credits
Yes, you can report your 1099-S in the investment section of TurboTax. The fact that it was not a voluntary process, doesn't affect the way it is entered on your tax return.
This is how to enter your 1099-S:
- Select Federal, then Wages & Income.
- Scroll down and look for Investments & Savings.
- Expand the section and find Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other and click on Start or Update to the right.
- Click + Add investments at the bottom.
- Click Continue.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Enter a different way.
- Select Other (1099-S), click Continue.
- Enter a description and click Continue.
- Select Land (personal use) from the first drop down.
- Fill in your information about the sale.
