Since this is a glitch in Turbo Tax, I am going to suggest an alternate way to repot your interest so this error doesn't appear.
- Delete the 1099 INT from your return. Go to the interest section where you reported this and delete the 1099 INT from the return.
Now go to:
- Federal
- Income and Expenses
- Scroll down to Less Common Income and click Show More
- Start next to Miscellaneous Income
- Start next to Other Reportable Income
- For description refer to this as foreign interest and then the amount.
Since interest income is ordinary income, this reporting method is acceptable.
