how to answer question about balance of IRA account as of the end of the year before last?
I have non-deductible IRA contribution in 2021 but I did not do the Roth conversion. So, when filing the 2021 tax, I did not have the retirement income to be files. But I did track my contribution of $7000. I continued to have contribution in 2022. Now when i am filing the 2022 tax, I, again, track my contribution. TurboTax asked me my balance as of 12/31/2021. I looked at the year-year statement and enter the balance from there. Obviously, that will be different from $7000. But, then, TurboTax is saying the amount is not matching the number in my 2021 tax return. So, what should I do? Should I just answer that question with my contribution amount as it is regarding the cost basis or to give the number from the yearend statement and provide an explanation?
