@DaveF1006 I appreciate the additional round of input, but as I have heard from @jtax in the earlier posts in this thread there should be a way to contribute Social Security and Medicare taxes on my otherwise exempt Foreign Earned Income, precisely because I am required, through the Totalization Agreement between US-Italy, to pay them in the US as opposed to in Italy. It is an unusual situation, I know, but I am determined to sort it out so that I am not dodging this tax in both countries. I pay income tax at the prescribed rate in Italy, only on my Italy-earned income as a freelance educator (ie, a self-employed US person without a permanent work contract). But I have found a way NOT to pay into the Italian Social Security system, as they are discreet agencies here.
