Deductions & credits
OMG, you all just want to offend when responding. First the other person basically patronizing me in each response. Now you are trying to teach me how to use the VIEW mode - I have said I move to VIEW all the time and told you what I saw in the VIEW mode. I have been using turbo tax now for 20 years. I am not a fool so stop speaking to me as such.
I have said multiple times I have the desktop version. I see EVERY FORM in my return when I click on view and switch from the Step by Step to FORMS. I see my 1040. The $1400 is no where to be found.
I am looking at every form in my return and every worksheet as I have stated.
Tools - Tax Summary - so what??? How does this answer my question. It shows the Standard Deduction of $27,300. You think I am a Fool that I did not already know my standard deduction is $27,300. Is that my question?
My question was and is at this point in the discussion why isn't the Extra $1400 standard deduction listed anywhere? Even the Standard Deduction Worksheet only shows $25,900. Only on the line for the standard deduction on my 1040 does the $27,300 show up.
This discussion is going absolutely no where and is getting ridiculous. It is like you don't read what I am saying and what I am asking.
I have said I am looking at the 1040 so why are you telling me to "preview the 1040".
Both of you replying are some Level 15? But you cannot read my question and my statement which is that Turbo Tax should add a line for the additional deduction amounts because I cannot find them anywhere in my return on a separate line. All the worksheets only list $25,900. No where does TT or even the IRS 113 page instruction booklet list that the additional amount is $1400 if over 65. I find it odd on the IRS part and since they don't advise neither is TT.
I saw the $27,300 in my return right away as I was doing my return because I have been using TT for 20 years and move between step by step and Forms view all the time. What I said is I do not see where it is listed anywhere and then when I print my form I see a page 4 1040-SR with the amounts listed out.
I am not going to continue repeating myself. You did not read my reply and made some reply for no reason because it did not answer my question. Are all the worksheets in TT from the IRS and so the only one that can add a line on a worksheet showing the $1400 per 65 year old is if the IRS changes the form? Or are some of the worksheets from Turbo Tax? If the IRS then they need to fix but if from Turbo Tax then they could add a line as I mentioned.
PS: Your instructions are not for a desktop version
1) lower- Left side of the screen...click to the left side of the "Tax Tools" text selection.
NO Such Place - This entire line makes no sense to me
Desktop Version the Tools tab is on the TOP of the screen. I don't click on the Left Side of the Tax Tools text selection, I click on TOOLS tab at the TOP and then the Text Selection is a drop down. Tax Summary is 6th selection down. It gives me no information I want or cant see looking at the Forms In My Return and scroll down to Tax Summary. More than one way to get to the same place, but your method does not work for desktop version
Then hit the "Back" on the left side to get back to your tax entries.
I don't hit "Back" in the "View" mode, only in Step by Step which is not what you are even describing so you must be describing online version because it is not Desktop CD version - at least not the Home & Business.
No one needs to reply again, because I am just aggravated with all the replies at this time If you are not looking at a desktop CD version. I only see the final number of $27,300 on my return and all the worksheets only show $25,900 as I described previous telling you know the Names of the Worksheets I am looking at (Peeking at as you seem to call it). If you cannot Show me where on some worksheet where it shows the additional $1400 then don't reply. I have been through every form and worksheet in my return that has anything to do with this subject and they only show 25,900 and if you checked off any box under standard deduction to see the instructions, but I don't see the number in the 113 page instructions from the IRS either. So if you find it let me know.
This type of thing drives me batty trying to look all over for something not there. It seems to be stemming from the IRS whose form the last Level 15 attached, only says see instructions instead of listing it on the form. Then it is not in the instructions. If it was in the instructions a logical place for it is either in the What's New area where they have the new Information on the Standard Deduction increases for the year. This additional Deduction increased this year from $1350 last year to $1400 so logical to put it there. Then when you look under the Standard Deduction Age/Blindness area click on the link and it takes you to the location nothing is there either so the IRS is the problem most likely and Turbo Tax just follows along and only Google can give me the answer. That is my frustration with both IRS forms/instructions and Turbo Tax that you have all this info and help on various forms and lines, but I can find nothing on this.
PS: I dont need to "Peek" at only the Federal form 1040 and the summary of the State Info, I can fully VIEW my entire return by form and by worksheet at my pleasure, and I don't find what I am asking about anywhere.
