Deductions & credits

Yes turbo tax calculated everything but did not explain anything.  There is nothing that shows a line with the additional $1400.  I am not seeing this amount listing in the instructions you sent.  I do find the Tip that says Don't file with the return it is there for your information

Standard Deduction

Tip:

If you are filing Form 1040-SR, you can find a Standard Deduction Chart on the last page of that form that can calculate the amount of your standard deduction in most situations.

Tip:

Don’t file the Standard Deduction Chart with your return.

Instructions do not say under Standard Deduction, that I can find, that there is a $1400 additional deduction for over age 65.  The "What's New Section" of the Instructions has the fact the Standard Deduction increased and they list the categories as is shown on the return and on the worksheets.  I cannot find the the $1400 for over age 65 or if blind.  I find it odd that this information is so elusive and Google is required to find it.  It seems the IRS is not making this information clear in their 113 page Instructions or on their Forms either , so Turbo Tax is following Suit with the information NOT being clear or listed anywhere,  but TT is calculating everything correctly.

My suggestion for Turbo Tax is to make a line for it on the Standard Deduction Worksheet which I mentioned already.  Digging around trying to find the amount for each addition is frustrating.

I don't think you are understanding what I am saying by telling me:

"But----instead of using this 113 page instruction book and a sharp pencil with an eraser----you were able to use TurboTax to do the calculations and understand the rules for you!"

I am saying that Turbo Tax is not making the Calculations clean or letting us know the Rules within the program and in the worksheets.  Not until I PRINT  my Filing Return is that information on Page 4 in the Table of Information showing up.  I should not have to wait until I PRINT to ensure my return is correct and to do so I needed to Google what is the additional dollar amount (this year $1400).  It should be put on a worksheet and made simple for us all to see when looking through all the forms and supporting documents in quickview.

I would like to know if you can put this suggestion through to the powers that be at turbo tax and not reply to me with the sarcasm you have in your replies.
