Cost basis for joint tenancy right of survivorship

Hello, my dad cosigned my brother's mortgage several years ago.  Dad did not live in the home.  The home was titled as joint tenancy with right of survivorship. The house went up for sale last year, after the 2 of them accepted the offer, and before closing, my brother passed away..  Do I use the cost basis at the time they accepted the offer or is it half of the original cost from when my brother originally got the house?
