Deductions & credits
Thank you. The problem was getting the credit for a second vehicle. I found that the second vehicle being entered triggered the error. I determined that by deleting and changing the order that I entered the vehicles. I emptied cache, cookies, history, and so on as well as deleting the tax return file and program entirely and starting a new tax return session including a new software download. None of that worked. After many hours of working with product support without success I tried a new approach:
I tried forcing the program to use a second form (rather than just using the second column on the standard form). I did this by entering the second vehicle twice and ignoring the warning that I had entered a duplicate VIN. At that point I had the first vehicle entered as well as two entry’s for the second vehicle. I then edited that section and deleted the first entry for the second vehicle. After doing so I was able to run the review, not get an error regarding the VIN and ultimately file my tax return.
Problem resolved although it involved an unusual fix.
