Deductions & credits
Double-check in the mortgage interest section of your return that you did indicate that the interest is 'secured by a property' that you own. If this is answered 'no' instead of 'yes', then the mortgage interest is not deducted.
Use the following steps to go back to that section:
- On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
- This opens a box where you can type in “mortgage interest” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
- The search results will give you an option to “Jump to mortgage interest”
- Click on the blue “Jump to mortgage interest” link
