Deductions & credits

You need to clarify your question further.  You state it is a 2 family home.  Is there anyone living in the other section?  Do you also own the other section?  As far as changing ownership to 100% yourself, have you had an attorney file the proper paperwork to take your grandmother off the deed?  Who's social security number is on any 1098 that may be received for mortgage interest or other documents, such as insurance papers?

If the other section is separately owned and you have no ownership interest in it, and you are now recognized as the sole owner of the residence in which you live, you may take the full mortgage and property tax deductions on your return.  If there is any mention of 50% ownership in your date entry, simply change it to 100%.  The preceding statement presupposes that the ownership change occurred prior to 2022.  Please keep in mind that if this ownership change occurred in 2022, you may have to allocate the deductible items for the period of separate percentage ownership.
