I had an HSA in my name in previous years while I was working and had a high deductible health plan. Now I'm retired and don't put any money in that HSA, but my wife still works and we're both covered by her high deductible health plan and contribute to her HSA. We've never had a lapse in high deductible health plan.
Every year TurboTax concludes that my high deductible health plan has lapsed.
It may be innocuous but it's poor user interface design that unnecessarily worries people. Intuit ought to fix it.
