Deduction for unemployment during green card process
I was wondering if my husband and I can get any deductions for myself being unemployed for the first 4 months of 2022.
The situation is that I moved to the states in Feb 2021 and was waiting for my green card process until March 2022 (due to Covid) so I couldn't have a job for a year. In 2021, someone else did tax for us and helped us get a lot of return because I was not making any money and my husband was just working part time and going to school full-time at the time. For 2022, I got my green card in March and started my first job in May. So while I had income from May up until now, I was unemployed still from Jan-April 2022. I didn't report any unemployment or get any benefits or help from the government. But I would like to know if there's anything I can do on my tax filing to get back some returns from those 4 months.
Thank you
