My friends business started. It’s in the beginning stages and she is getting word of mouth out. My understanding is that even without profits in the first couple of years, she is eligible to deduct $5k of start up costs and 100% of meals. She’s flown to meet clients and stayed at hotels to discuss and promote the business so think those flights and taxi expenses and hotels are 100% deductible.
