Can I file for tax relief for a non-federally declared/non-qualified disaster that occurred in 2021?
We had a microburst or "bomb-cyclone event in Laramie WY. Hit my sub-division. I lost my house under construction, a completed outbuilding and its contents. Total of $229,033.02 of damages. Insurance paid $191,736.85 because I had not insured the outbuilding contents (expected to put them in the house fast). So I'm still out $37,296.17. I have pix and all the documentation I submitted to insurance. Can I file somehow since this was not a declared or qualified event?
