Deductions & credits
Ok, I was just on the phone with Customer Service and tried to walk them through this issue. They can see my CA Return while using the Desktop Software and I pointed out this glitch. They CANNOT see the PDF print version where it shows DR- DR-1234. I tried to use one of the methods described above where you just ignore the error on the Fed Form 4684 (e.g. not entering DR-) but when you attempt to eFile your state, it will not let you until you manually enter the DR-. Very frustrating is an understatement!
I requested a refund for the $25 and was sent an email to process that. However, looking at TurboTax's "Guaranteed Correct", this seems to fall under that area as well. We are entering correct information and the software is not. So, I am going to request my initial purchase as well. I called H&R Block and they will take my Intuit TurboTax file and process my CA State return for me. I will pay them with the Refund I receive from TurboTax. It seems the only way to eFile correctly to CA.
CA has an automatic extension to file when you are receiving a Refund. From the FTB site: "California grants you an automatic extension to file your state tax return. No form is required. You must file by October 17, 2022."
We should not have to file our returns manually by mail for a product that purports to be fast, convenient and 100% accurate. Everyone here on this thread provided excellent information to Intuit about a glitch that should have been fixed by the software engineers ASAP. Best solution on this: TurboTax Refund to the buyers.
