Unfortunately you are right. They can and will find a way out of helping.

I did have a notice from the IRS, and did open a case.

However, since the IRS did not assess a fine, TT claimed there was nothing covered by the so-called Accuracy Guarantee.  Its actually a "No Fine Guarantee".  There were several errors, but those are not covered by the "Accuracy Guarantee" unless the IRS actually fines you.  In my case, it caused me to have more income than I should have and put me in a higher tax bracket, costing me.  THAT kind of error is not covered by the so-called Accuracy Guarantee.

It surely is not fair, but they have a tight case defined by lawyers.
