Thank you so much for your response. Living in Georgia, I am trying to assist my Kansas friends at a distance. They assured me that their itemized deductions exceeded their Kansas standard deduction but I did not press for specific numbers. Given that no one else in the Community has responded that they also have this problem, I have to believe that there is a reasonable explanation for TurboTax choosing the standard deduction. Because of their frustration with the situation, the several days without any response to my question, and the approaching tax deadline, they have decided to have a CPA do their taxes. It will be interesting to see what he/she does on their Kansas return. I feel confident that I could have resolved the issue if I were onsite and privy to their financial data. Thank you again.
