Got given a home but I had to pay over 18,0000 dollars in taxes and unpaid association fees and fines in 2018 how do I add for credit

My grandfather left me a town home and his will it was supposed to be free and clear it was not I ended up having to pay over $8,000 in property taxes that were owed and also $10,000 in association fees that were past due to keep the town home in 2018 how do I get the credit for this
