Deductions & credits
Please try the following steps. It worked for me as I tried it using TurboTax Online. Sale of your primary residence is reported as less common income.
Use these steps:
- Log into your TurboTax Account
- Select Income and Wages
- Select Review/Edit
- Go to the Federal tab in the left menu bar
- Select Income and Wages
- Scroll down to where you see the Sale of Business
- Click Edit
- Uncheck the selection on the very first screen
- This removes it from the list
I walked through this process using TurboTax Online. It would not remove from the Income Summary unless you uncheck the box on the very first screen, after selecting edit.
Even if it does not remove it from the screen, if the amount showing is zero, it should not affect your filing,
You generally need to report the sale of your home on your tax return if you received a Form 1099-S or if you do not meet the requirements for excluding the gain on the sale of your home.
