Go to "view" at the top of the page in Turbo Tax and click on "forms". This allows you to make direct inputs in Turbo Tax.
Scroll to "California Individual" and on down to "Schedule CA", click on this.
On the form, scroll to part II, "gifts to Charity". Enter $300 or $600, whichever is appropriate on line 11 (gifts by cash or check) column B (subtractions). This should change your tax due or refund.
Go back to "step by step" and complete your return. Resubmit to state, hope it will get accepted this time.
