Excess of SSN tax withheld
I am employed by two employers, and hence have excess of SSN tax withheld.
Last year when doing my taxes, I saw that excess captured as extra tax already paid in Form 1040 in line 31, based on Schedule 3 "Additional Credits and Payments" in line 10 "Excess social security and tier 1 RRTA tax withheld".
This year, in a similar situation, I have a message from TurboTax saying to connect my employer, get refund and a corrected W-2c, and I do not see the "credit" in my tax forms and worksheets - There is no Schedule 3 like last year. When contacting my employer, they responded that they are legally required to withhold the SSN tax based on my wages, and cannot issue refund or corrected W2.
What do I do? How do I get the extra taxes I paid part of my tax returns?
Thank you, and appreciate the advice!
