Deductions & credits
Charitable miles are deductible as itemized expenses. There is not a tax credit for them.
Whether you can deduct them as itemized expenses depends on who you were volunteering with. If you were volunteering for a qualified charitable organization then yes such as the red cross, then yes, you can claim these miles as a deduction IF you are itemizing your return.
If you were just volunteering through a group of people not recognized as a charitable organization, then no, these miles are not deductible.
If you are taking the standard deduction instead of itemized deductions, then these miles would not be deductible either.
