To clear this up in TurboTax Desktop and get your deduction recorded on your tax return, do the following.
- Click on Personal Income at the top of the desktop software.
- Then choose Deductions and Credits.
- Pick I'll Choose What I Work On.
- Scroll all the way down and click on Done with Deductions. This is the button that you have to click in order to get the CARES ACT charitable deduction questions. The button is at the very bottom of the page and depending on how large your screen is, you have to scroll down the page to see it.
